 Week 4; E-Learning.

Questions:
  • Does multi-tasking give you a real or false sense of having accomplished something?
  • Is learning 3D and design different from learning programming, or is all learning the same? Why?
  • The article states that “Learning is actually a very complex operation for an individual”. Do you agree with this? Do you feel that you approach your learning in the best way – if yes, how, and if no, how can you change your work style?
  • What are your thoughts about the last paragraph in the extract?
  • Should your lecturers also focus on your work attitude, or just leave you to sink or swim on your own? Why?
Answers:
  • Multi-tasking gives me a false sense of having accomplished something because I will not give my full attention to the task I am doing and will be distracted with other things that I will also want to concentrate on. End up this will waste time if I some what may be mixed up with what I am doing or even side tracking to other irrelevant things without realising thinking I am actually multi-tasking. In addition, according to the article they also state that people who focus on single tasks performed better than multi-taskers.
  • I think in terms of the basic learning its the same as both requires me to learn the fundamental concepts at the start and then slowly learn more about the software used. The learning process would be the same for all.
  • I do agree to "Learning is actually a very complex operation for an individual" to a certain extend because everyone are different and have their own methods when it comes to learning. I do not agree to this sentence to a certain extend also because this is for the group of people with fast learning ability that will find learning is not really complex once they understand something quickly. I do feel that I approach my learning in the best way to a certain extend because I will try my best to understand in ways that will make me understand easier. For example, I prefer having coloured texts for my notes so I can remember them better rather than black boring fonts. I also feel that I did not approach my learning in the best way because I will tend to spend a lot of time understanding but did not get to do practices. Thus, I can change it by managing my time better for both understanding and applying my understanding.
  • I think the extract is true because if we have great ideas but we are not able to put it in words that will persuade our client to accept it then we cannot be successful. Same goes to teamwork because if we cannot communicate well with other parties, we will not be able to work together as a team. Lastly, if we do not have the ability to write an email effectively, give and take constructive criticism etc, we may create some misunderstandings for the other party and they will judge from our communication skills of what type of person and how professional we are.
  • In my opinion, lecturers are not responsible for our work attitude thus they do not have the need to focus on that. However, I think it is important for them to let us be independent but also help us along the way when we seek for help. From there, it will allow us to learn thus developing some skills and improve ourselves. They should not focus on our work attitude because we should be matured enough to be responsible for our own learning.
